SLAYER Drummer, QUEENSRŸCHE Singer Interviewed On 'Heavy Metal Mayhem' (Audio)
December 29, 2010Drummer Dave Lombardo talked about SLAYER and his PHILM project, and QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate discussed the 20th anniversary reissue of the band's "Empire" album on the December 12, 2010 edition of the "Heavy Metal Mayhem" radio show with Mike "The Big Cheese". The program can now be heard using the audio player below.
Wrapping up one of the most memorable years of the band's career, SLAYER made available a previously unreleased track, "Atrocity Vendor", as part of a special limited-edition seven-inch single. Written by Kerry King, the track was recorded during the 2009 "World Painted Blood" sessions, and was released on "Black Friday," November 26, exclusively through Metal Club, the North American indie store consortium that works to connect the metal community with their local "brick and mortar" record stores.
"Atrocity Vendor" was paired with the Tom Araya/Jeff Hanneman-penned track "World Painted Blood", and released in a clear sleeve on a red vinyl disc. Go to www.mymetalclub.com to find a metal record shop near you.
QUEENSRŸCHE's Queensrÿche Cabaret tour is being filmed for future DVD release. The trek, which kicked off in late July, was previously described by the group as "Teatro ZinZanni meets Cirque du Soleil, with the band performing their hits and never-heard-before selections accompanied by go-go dancers, burlesque dancers, drag queens, a juggler, ballet dancer, trapeze artist, a contortionist and others. Definitely a fun-filled evening like no other full of freaks and shrieks!"
QUEENSRŸCHE recently signed a multi-album, worldwide deal with Loud & Proud Records, a Roadrunner Records imprint focusing on established artists. The band's label debut — their twelfth studio album overall — is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2011 release. Singer and founder Geoff Tate remains the creative nucleus of the band, which continues to make relevant, against-the-grain hard rock that entices fans, both new and diehard.
